December 2017 Blogging Income Report
Yay... here's my December 2017 Blogging Income Report and goodness... it was a great month! Overall, 2017 was a GREAT year (more on that in another post). The goal I set for 2017 was to increase my gross income every month. As I've mentioned a few times, I didn't hit that goal. July was a horrible month for me and it took awhile to recover. But thanks to November and December, I finished 2017 with a BIG BANG! I don't have any great analysis for my big finish in December. The last quarter of the year is generally a great period for food bloggers (thanks to the holidays) and this year that proved true for me. Several of my old posts performed well and I even had a huge spike in the days after Christmas because of this Instant Pot Black Eyed Peas post. In fact, January 1, 2018 was bigger than any day in 2017 thanks to that post. No one is more surprised than me by this information. A black-eyed peas post blew everything else out of the water for the whole ...
November 2017 Blogging Income Report
November 2017 Blogging Income Report. I'm determined to wrap up my 2017 Blog Income Reports if it kills me. Besides, I've been really dying to actually know how well the blog did (or didn't do) during November and December and with the buying a new house and moving, sickness, and starting back to school... I just haven't slowed down. Spoiler alert... November and December both were fantastic months for my blog income. Today I'm only sharing November, but I'll get December up in the next few days because I've already compiled the numbers. The goal I set for 2017 was to increase my gross income every month in 2017. I didn’t set a specific percentage (although that’s something I may need to think on), but I just wanted to see steady growth for the whole year. I didn't hit that goal with the big summer slump (oh mercy, July, you killed me), but I'm happy to see that after summertime, things have steadily picked back up and November was a HUGE improvement! 2017 Gross ...
October 2017 Blogging Income Report
Before the holiday preparations completely sweet me away, I'm trying to catch up a bit on all the blogs! So here's my October 2017 Blogging Income Report! The goal I set for 2017 was to increase my gross income every month this year. I didn’t set a specific percentage (although that’s something I may need to think on), but I just wanted to see steady growth for the whole year. This goal has clearly not happened. Things were going great until June. Then I hit a (normal-for-me) summer slump and I can't seem to bounce back. After the July low, my numbers slowly climbed back up, but now September and October have been almost identical (within $30). This is especially frustrating because October is usually through-the-roof on traffic for me. My candy apples post is a huge traffic driver that usually brings in piles of October (pre-Halloween) traffic. This year I didn't see that jump. In addition to that, I started producing a few videos for my recipes posts. In ...
September 2017 Blogging Income Report
I'm soooo excited that a little bit of Fall weather is here and I'm also soooo excited to be sharing my September 2017 Blogging Income Report! I know, I know... it's so super late, but hey... better late than never, as they say, right? Speaking of late - I forgot to send out an email notice when I published my August report weeks ago... so if you missed it, you can find it here! The goal I set for 2017 was to increase my gross income every month this year. I didn’t set a specific percentage (although that’s something I may need to think on), but I just wanted to see steady growth for the whole year. As you can see below, my income did continue to increase from the summer low, but it's still not where it was. It barely inched past my May income... by only a few dollars. Oh well... I'm still crossing my fingers for a strong finish to 2017! One more thing I want to mention. The majority of this income comes from Rose Bakes, but I do earn small amounts from this ...
August 2017 Blogging Income Report
Okay, okay... so I didn't get this report published as quickly as I hoped when I wrote my July report... but I'm finally getting to it - my August 2017 Blogging Income Report! The goal I set for 2017 was to increase my gross income every month this year. I didn’t set a specific percentage (although that’s something I may need to think on), but I just wanted to see steady growth for the whole year. As with July, August was another down month for income. It did jump back up pretty significantly from July, but not enough to reach or exceed my June income. I really really hope September proves to be my comeback month... I'll find out soon (considering it's September 27 as I write this). There is one other silver lining I want to mention. While my blog income has been down, my real-life cake income has been great through the summer! The chart above represents my income (green) and expenses (red) for my real-life cake business. I won't get into the hard ...
July 2017 Blogging Income Report
I can hardly believe it's August September already!! (I actually wrote this early in August and then got busy and didn't realize until today that I never published it.) This summer has flown by... and I hate to rush it, but I would not be sad to see the stifling heat go away! That aside... let's get on with it - my July 2017 Blogging Income Report! The goal I set for 2017 was to increase my gross income every month this year. I didn’t set a specific percentage (although that’s something I may need to think on), but I just wanted to see steady growth for the whole year. And for the first time this year... in July I did not see an increase. My first instinct was to say I was sad about this, and maybe I am a little, but if I'm being honest, I knew it was coming and it's okay. July is always a slow month for traffic and one of the lowest for income. People are outside enjoying the summer and not online as much. Also, it's the beginning of a new quarter (financially ...
June 2017 Blogging Income Report
It's JULY!! I wish it weren't so hot in Mississippi, but other than that, I'm really enjoying our summer. I'm also excited to be on track sharing my June 2017 Blogging Income Report! The goal I set for 2017 was to increase my gross income every month this year. I didn’t set a specific percentage (although that’s something I may need to think on), but I just wanted to see steady growth for the whole year. So for, for all of 2017, I've hit my goal! The increases haven't been huge or dramatic, but seeing steady growth is so exciting! By doing these reports, I hope to see areas where I’m slacking so I can focus and grow each month. I also plan to evaluate my expenses and make cuts where I can. I've continued to spend money on Facebook advertising, by following the Moolah course. This course is not available now, but you can get on the waiting list for next time and I've continued to see growth in my income directly from Facebook and I'm up more than 20,000 new ...
One of the best blogging investments I’ve made: Food Blogger Pro
I have a confession to make. When I started my cake blog more than 5 years ago, it was a mess. I had some great cakes and content, but I was all over the map about how to make it successful. I did find some success, but it was by accident - not because I had any idea what I was doing or following any strategy. I spent a lot of time researching blogging techniques, but I found myself totally overwhelmed. It's so easy to get get "information overload" when it comes to blogging! The struggle is real! Over the years I've bought and tried many, many ecourses, ebooks, courses, etc. trying to find the thing to help me be successful at blogging. Some of them were truly helpful (and I share about them), but most were wasted money. And then there's Food Blogger Pro. It's one of the single best purchases I made. I was so happy to find a website that covered all the fundamental principles I needed to grow my blog. I'm currently earning over $7000 a month and I know a lot ...
May 2017 Blogging Income Report
For quite a few months, I've been terribly behind on posting my income reports, but I'm so happy that this week, I'm posting May's income pretty promptly! Are you ready? Here's my May 2017 Blogging Income Report! The goal I set for 2017 was to increase my gross income every month this year. I didn’t set a specific percentage (although that’s something I may need to think on), but I just wanted to see steady growth for the whole year. So for, for all of 2017, I've hit my goal!
