Hi –
Thank you so much for being here!
In 2009 I started a frugal/couponing blog with the hopes of helping my local community. It never really took off, but in 2010, I started baking cakes and sharing about them on my frugal blog. Before I knew it, my cake posts were the most popular thing I was sharing!
It took me a little while to come around to the idea, but soon I realized that cake blogging was my real passion (along with cake decorating – which I still do also) and in January 2012, my cake blog was born. That blog grew faster than I could’ve imagined and not only did I discover that I loved blogging about cake, but I also learned that I just loved blogging in general and sharing everything I was learning along the way.
I also want you to know that I’m not one of those bloggers who is going to tell you how to do something without experience to back it up.
I’ve learned about design, photography, social media, growing an email list and followers, SEO, how to make money (from multiple streams) and more! I got so excited about everything that I was learning that I started sharing it on my cake blog and my personal blog. Then I started mentoring other cake decorators wanting to learn to blog and I knew I’d found a new love.
Through all of that, I found an at-home job that earns me full-time income. My income growth was not overnight and I’ll be the first to tell you that blogging is generally not a “get rich quick” kind of thing, but if you’re willing to put in the work, I’m confident you can find success in cake blogging!
Here is what I made blogging at Rose Bakes in the first 5 years (this does not include income from selling my cakes in real life):
- 2012: $82
- 2013: $871
- 2014: $16,756
- 2015: $37,221
- 2016: $57,106
- …. 2022: over $100K
So like I said, that’s not stellar, through-the-roof overnight income, but it’s slow and steady growth that is currently full-time income which is still growing!
Slow and steady wins the race – right?
How I Hope to Help You with Cake Blogging:
My primary goal here at Cake Blogging is to help other bakers and cake decorators learn to blog! Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, I hope you’ll find some inspiration and answers to any questions you might have about blogging!
Do you have a cake decorating business, but you want to earn more income? Do you love to share your recipes and tutorials? Or maybe you just love sharing pictures of your sweet creations with the world? Or maybe you already have a website or blog but you have no idea how to get people reading or how to earn money from it. I want to help with that too!
If any of these things apply to you, then maybe Cake Blogging is for you!
(Note: if cake is not your thing, but you’re hoping to start a blog on a different topic, I’m confident you can still find loads of information here to help you start and build your blog!)
I sincerely want to connect with my readers on a personal level so I answer questions and respond to comments daily. I will be sharing blogging tutorials, how-to’s, tips on photography, plugins, and monetizing (making the $$$).
I’ll share tools and schools and tips that I’ve used and love. I’ll also share my failures so maybe you can skip that part 🙂
Everything I share here will be things that truly believe in and/or have personally used. I will stay authentic to me. Yes, I’ll be sharing deals and sales related to blogging – but only if I really believe they’ll benefit you.
I’ll also sprinkle some fun and laughter into every post – I hope!
